Aruna Irani Remembers Working with Manoj Kumar in Almost Every Film: ‘He Contributed So Much…’

Manoj Kumar’s untimely demise shook the nation. Bollywood celebs, including Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, and Aamir Khan, mourned the famous actor. We also talked to actress Aruna Irani about her special recollections with him.
Regarding her experience, Aruna Irani remarked,
He was a great director, actor, and producer. He was always fun to work with. He was great.”
She recalls working with him on 1967’s Upkar. It was one of India’s first full-color films.
“I was in his first film, Upkar. Full color was rare at the time. Before that, only the songs and dancing moments were colored; the rest were black and white. She noted that it was nice working with a visionary director.
Aruna Irani said she was in most Manoj Kumar films.
“I worked with him on 9–10 of his films. That was our collaboration rate.”
Feeling emotional, she added:
He made significant contributions to Indian film. His passing is devastating to the industry. How can we proceed? Peace to his soul. He was kind, too.”
ANI said that 87-year-old Manoj Kumar died at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He died of a major heart attack at 4:03 AM. He was hospitalized on February 21, 2025, but his condition worsened.
In recent months, doctors confirmed his decompensated liver cirrhosis, which severely harmed his health.
