Elizabeth Dulau’s Andor Season 2 Casting Story Revealed

Andor Season 2 Creator Tony Gilroy Explains How Elizabeth Dulau Was Cast

Andor Season 2 stars Elizabeth Dulau as Kleya. She looks to be Luthen Rael’s assistant, a mysterious antique merchant. Kleya is more than simply a side character as the story progresses—she’s powerful and intelligent, challenging even Darth Vader!

How Elizabeth Got the Kleya Role

Andor creator Tony Gilroy explained in a recent interview how Elizabeth Dulau became Kleya. She was not the first choice for the part.

“We had two other actors who were cast earlier,” Gilroy said. However, they received larger projects and requested departure.”

Casting director Nina Gold introduced Elizabeth Dulau to the crew. Gilroy recounted, “Nina remarked, ‘She has no experience. About 15 minutes ago, she graduated from RADA.  She’s done nothing yet.”

Dulau’s performance shocked everyone despite her inexperience in film. Gilroy said the cast was astonished by her innate ability.

As compared to Meryl Streep

Tony Gilroy likened Elizabeth to Meryl Streep. He said, “She’s bulletproof. We have no negative comments from her. Like Meryl Streep, she’s a naturally gifted actress.

He noted that as they saw more of her work in Season 1, the authors gave her more screen time.

Her Role Was a Highlight

Elizabeth Dulau and Stellan Skarsgård feature in Andor Season 2. She played Kleya, a season MVP.
